Funeral of printers' union chief Mr. Ronald Anzac Alsop, secretary of the Victorian Printers Operatives' Union, who died last Friday, will be buried at Springvale today. The funeral will leave St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church, 299 Warrigal Road, Burwood, after prayers beginning at 1.30 p.m. It will arrive at Springvale Lawn Cemetery at 2.30 p.m. Mr. Alsop, 54, had been secretary of the VPOU for 23 years. He served on the executive of the Trades Hall Council and the Victorian branch of the A.L.P. for many years. Mr. Alsop worked in the publishing room of Truth and Sportsman before becoming secretary-treasurer of the union. He was only the second person to hold the position since the union was established in 1911. Mr. Alsop leaves a wife and married son.
