Wow, so much detail in this document, many, many thanks for your work.
I have spotted a few details I can add on my first review, but no doubt when I start to add this detail to my Family Tree Maker software others will occur to me.
For now, initial observations, working from today backwards (I.e. the bottom of the narrative pdf).
My mum, Beatrice Allsopp died at Woodlands care Home, Wooley, Wakefield on 22 Sept 2024, Not Castleford.
My mum remarried to William Enos Moore in 1977, I think at Wakefield registry office. He is still alive, with three sons from his first marriage. No children with my mum
My mum had two sons, not one. My brother is Martin David Hodgson, born 26th March 1963 in Wakefield or Pontefract.
I was born 15 January 1961 in Manygates hospital, Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
My dad, Robert Granville Hodgson was born 19 March 1931 at Methley, died 30/12/2014 at my brother's house in Hall Green, Wakefield. Despite being divorced for 51 years, my mum and dad died within a mile of each other.
My mum told me that Hannah Booth was Arthur Alsop's 2nd wife. My ancestry tree has Alice England as his first wife, married at Gawber, Huddersfield in 1907, and a Stanley Allsopp born in Barnsley, died 1908. Alice was living with Arthur in the 1911 census in Fairburn, died 1914.
Hannah Booth may have had a child out of wedlock and adopted elsewhere, before she married Arthur Alsop in 1918, was another rumour my mum told me. Hannah was 13 years younger than Arthur which ties in with a second marriage.
Violet and Leslie (my mum's siblings) are still alive and I hope to see them on Friday at my mum's funeral.
All other siblings are dead.
Uriah married Leslie Moisley and had a boy, David Allsopp b. 1950
Nellie died very young in 1925
Wilfred died in 2008, I believe he married at least twice and I have a son called John Allsopp in my tree. Him and my dad got on well and I remember seeing him in about 1979 with my dad.
Ernest was a happy chap, married to Beryl Ward, one child Lynne Allsopp, b. 1955
Marion Allsopp married Keith Rogan, tow sons Keith b.1959, Jeffrey b.1963, died 1998
Fred Allsopp had a boy called Gary. He worked at Fryston Colliery in Castleford as a crane driver. He was a bit of an old grump. Died 1996
Violet married Bryan Byford and has three children, Darren, Heather, Craig.
Lesley married Margaret Ward, has a son Stephen b. 1962
George Albert Allsopp and my grandfather Arthur Allsopp were living in adjacent houses in the 1911 census in Fairburn, West Yorkshire. Fairburn in very close to Fryston, where Arthur moved to and had his family. Fairburn is approximately 3 miles from where I live now, so I will go find his headstone.
William Alsop, b.1885 seems to have stayed in Fulstone, at his maternal grandparents (Charlesworths), whose family name my mum mentioned as being around when she was a girl.
His brothers George and Arthur obviously moved to Fairburn, to be where the coal mining work was (Fryston colliery). I also worked in the coal mining industry in the 1970/80's and over the last two centuries it has gradually moved eastwards, working deeper seams as the Western collieries such as Huddersfield and Mirfield were worked out.
That's as far back as I can go with my memories at the moment. Once again thank you so much for your hard work and I'll be in touch as I progress this tree.
Kind regards
Nigel}
